How Tamil Nadu became one of the world’s leading renewable energy markets

As it stated in Tamil Nadu, which gets 14% of its energy needs from renewables, is the only Asian market on the list. How Tamil Nadu swung itThe availability of rich wind and solar energy resources, a wide gap between power demand and supply, and robust government policies helped Tamil Nadu take the lead. Tamil Nadu has begun forecasting the flow so that the grid is ready to handle things. "Renewable energy assets in Tamil Nadu are facing significant backdown (as state power utilities are buying little power from these plants). This adversely impacts their feasibility," Kanika Chawla, a renewable energy expert at Delhi-based nonprofit Council on Energy, Environment, and Water, said.

Regional cooperation and integrated energy markets at risk

A much more interconnected European energy market, ensuring regional cooperation and cutting out waste, makes so much sense for consumers, for security of supply and for decarbonisation. Philip Baker and Christos Kolokathis urge MEPs and member states to make it happen. When the European Commission first outlined its vision for a genuine Energy Union nearly three years ago, Vice-President for the Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič, painted in primary colours: "Building a single energy market will allow energy to flow freely across EU countries as a fifth European freedom. They have a chance to support key aspects of the Commission's proposals to deliver the Energy Union. And yet ACER figures show us that half of the Member States surveyed did not take any account of resource contribution from neighbouring systems.

Here's why China wants to dominate the world's green energy markets

as declared in If there is to be an effective response to climate change, it will probably emanate from China. China's proactive response has impacted on global energy markets. But it is worth also considering the geopolitical implications of climate change leadership. But the current Trump administration is forthright in its baseless denial of climate change, having withdrawn from the Paris Agreement. As a major power, it is strengthening its international agency by pioneering these multilateral alternatives, many of which heavily invest in green energy projects.

Lawmakers fear Russian influence on energy markets

Lawmakers are expressing concerns following a new House committee report detailing how Russians attempted to use social media platforms to manipulate U.S. energy markets. Blumenthal is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has examined Russian meddling efforts on social media. "We are in effect inviting them to a social media buffet of options to interfere with our Democracy and undermine our way of life without adequate response," he said. Russia's energy success is intrinsically linked to the U.S., a likely cause for the social media behavior. The report is the latest effort from members of Congress to probe Russian meddling in the U.S. via social media.

House panel: Russia aimed to disrupt US energy markets using social media

Russia used several American social media accounts in an attempt to disrupt U.S. energy markets, according to a House committee report released Thursday. The committee surmised that the disinformation campaign on social media is connected to Russian fears that a strong U.S. energy economy could negatively impact Russia's oil and natural gas economy. Eastern and central European countries currently get about 75 percent of their natural gas from Russia, with southeastern European countries receiving nearly all of their natural gas from Moscow. For example, Poland recently signed a five-year deal with the U.S. to import liquefied natural gas to decrease dependency on Russian energy supplies, according to the report. U.S. energy exports to European countries are increasing, which means they will have less reason to rely upon Russia for their energy needs.
